What is grown in the off-season in Belarusian greenhouses?

At the beginning of this year, the head of the state instructed to work on providing the country with greenhouse products at affordable prices during the off-season. As part of this directive, active efforts have been made to develop existing farms, including their modernization.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food has a strategy for the development of greenhouse farming, which includes the modernization of greenhouses with additional lighting. Preferential electricity rates are set for greenhouse farms to ensure the production of tomatoes and cucumbers in December, January, February, and March.

In Belarus, based on the OJSC "DorOrs," peppers, strawberries, and aubergines were already grown in the off-season period of this year. Although this quantity is not sufficient to fully supply the entire country, work in this direction continues. It is understood that when production begins, the price is relatively high, but it quickly drops, and by April, Belarusian vegetables were already competing with imported ones.
