Turkey: Glass greenhouse project in Sivas

Sivas Mayor Hilmi Bilgin stated that the glass greenhouse project under construction by the municipality in the Solid Waste Landfill was launched in August.

Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek and Mayor Hilmi Bilgin made observations on the glass greenhouse project, which will add value to Sivas in the agricultural field, has a high export potential, and will employ approximately 100 people, and received briefings about the activities.

Stating that they visited an environmentally friendly and important project, Şimşek said, "Here, garbage is disposed of, and energy is produced from the garbage. The output energy generated is 1.4 megawatts of power. On the other hand, the resulting heat water will be used in greenhouses and converted into production in the facility we are in. Here, hopefully, after 40 decares of greenhouses are established, an annual income of 3 million euros will be obtained. Approximately 100 people will be employed in this facility. I congratulate Sivas Municipality and the company that has come up with this exemplary project."

Bilgin stated that they have implemented projects that add value to the country's economy one by one and said: "We first decompose our garbage by collecting it in the solid waste area. We also produce energy with the gas produced. We have an energy facility that will meet the electricity of approximately 5 thousand households. Within the scope of the zero waste project, we are providing a modern and environmentally friendly facility suitable for the zero waste project, which is built on approximately 40 decares of land in this region, where 3 million Euros will be generated annually, and 100 people will be employed. When the project, which is made with the support of our municipality and the investment of the private sector, is completed, both an environmentally friendly facility will be provided, and our garbage will not harm the environment in the landfill area in accordance with the zero waste project. Energy will be produced with the gas obtained from there. With the heat generated from energy production, we will bring the facility where 100 people will be employed to our city. At the end of August, we opened the facility by planting the first seedlings here. May it be beneficial to our city."

It aims to produce 2,500 tonnes of bunch tomatoes annually in the greenhouse.
