VBT data for week 42:

Tomato prices continue to rise; strawberries also recovering

The median price for a kilogram of vine tomatoes increased to just under 2 euros per kilogram last week. This puts the price at a higher level than the already high prices recorded at the same time in 2022. Prices for loose tomatoes are also rising, although not as much.

In week 42, near the end of the traditional greenhouse vegetable season, the median price for cucumbers and peppers also went up. For cucumbers, that means a price equal to the five-year average: 37.9 euro cents per piece.

For bell peppers, the median price of all colors together amounts to over 1.03 euros, equal to last year's and well above the five-year average.

Strawberry prices are also recovering. For the past two years, the price has been climbing back up at this time of year.
