According to the latest State of Crops report of the Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de AndalucĂa, in the first week of October, more and more pepper greenhouses in Almeria have already started harvesting.
Later, plantations are in the blooming, setting, and fattening phases. The plants are being staked, destemmed, and thinned.
In the tomato plantations, producers have already started harvesting the earliest varieties. In the rest, they are carrying out staking and detailing works, although there are also newly planted greenhouses. Pollination is done with bumblebees.
Aubergine greenhouses continue staking the crops and with the curdling and fattening of the fruit. They are also harvesting the earlier plantations.
Zucchini transplants continue, and the earliest plantations are being harvested. Staking activities are being carried out.
In cucumber, there are plantations at all stages of development; some have been recently transplanted, and the earliest plantations are already in production.
In the province of Granada, the campaign of the tomatoes grown under meshes in the areas of Guadix and Baza is coming to an end, and producers will stop harvesting them in about two weeks when temperatures drop.
In the region of La Costa, producers are harvesting cherry, branch cherry, and pear tomatoes.
Round beans are being harvested, and there's been a significant increase in yields in recent days.
Italian peppers, on the other hand, are being harvested with lower prices and increased yields.
