German ambassador visits Almeria to learn about its agricultural model

Last year, representatives of the German Parliament's Agricultural Committee visited Almeria's agricultural sector. Since the experience was a success, COEXPHAL has helped organize a new visit, in which the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Spain, María Margarete, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Science, Georg Schulze, and the consul in Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla, Alexander Prinzen were able to know the heart of Almeria's agricultural sector.

There, they were able to learn first-hand about the advances in biotechnology for the marketing of healthy foods, the improvement in irrigation automation, the management of biological control, and the sector's agronomic management in organic production in Almeria.

The tour started with a visit to a greenhouse of the Murgiverde cooperative, where they were guided by María Isabel Rubio, a field technician, and Jan van der Blom, the head of COEXPHAL's Production Techniques Department. They also visited the Acrena SAT handling center with Adoración Cañadas, the center's manager.

The German delegation also held other meetings with representatives of the sector and visited the facilities of the Cajamar Experimental Station, where they learned about the introduction of alternative value crops and new varieties that guarantee the sustainability of the sector.
