Dutch seed breeders have big plans

Seed breeding companies Syngenta, Enza Zaden, and Incotec are all investing heavily in their facilities in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. Syngenta has started construction on a new laboratory, and Incotec has plans to move its Zwaagdijk site to Enkhuizen.

Zaden wants to build new greenhouses, laboratories, business premises, and a facility for testing seeds for diseases and resistances. Regional broadcaster West-Friesland listed these plans. Enza Zaden's new greenhouse plans had already made regional news.

Of the three companies, Syngenta's plans are the most concrete. It wants its laboratory ready by late 2024.

Syngenta's new R&D facility in Enkhuizen was completed in 2018.
