Limex celebrates 30-year anniversary with open day

Limex celebrated its 30th anniversary with an open day last weekend. The intention was mainly to treat relations from the immediate area to a guided tour (and flan, of course), but, according to director Joep Janssen, customers and suppliers also came from Germany and other corners of the country. "A total of almost 400 people came, really impressive; we just barely avoided causing a local traffic jam."

Limex makes washing machines for trays, crates, carts, buckets, floats, and more for companies in horticulture. It is constantly developing these machines further, making them more sustainable and adjusting them to new market demands. The customer portfolio is impressive and global; reducing water consumption, recycling water, and raising the level of (growing) hygiene, together with energy and labor savings, for example, guarantee continued interest.

The machine builder had mapped out a nice route through the company for the visit. It presented how a project is usually approached, demonstrated how the various trays and buckets, etc., are washed, and one could also take a look at several machines under construction. One could also admire a cart washer, which is about to be delivered, and finally, one got a look at the materials storage.

NFT gutters
A development that will be pursued with renewed energy in the coming years is the construction of washers for so-called NFT gutters (gutters for cultivation on water). "We have been washing floats and floating slabs for a long time, but these gutters are much more difficult, much more technical," Joep says. "We have three machines running that can do it - one at a customer in America, one in Denmark, and one in the Netherlands - but we have stopped there so far. For each gutter, you have to figure out how to get it through the machine properly, and that's not so easy technically yet. However, the enthusiasm of all three references is so great that it has convinced us to take up new requests in the near future. There may still be orders we have to refuse, but in principle, we want to take up the challenge."

The company is not the only machine manufacturer in the world to wash these gutters, but it says it is the only one that also collects, filters, and reuses the water. Looking to the future, they therefore expect continued interest in this regard. "In the longer term, interest in hygiene improvements and sustainable use will increase worldwide. For us, it is important to stay ahead and continuously develop. If we do, we will not be without work in the coming years."
