In Reginópolis, in the center-west of São Paulo, the biloxi blueberry is successfully cultivated. Today, it is possible to find the biloxi blueberry everywhere, a variety that is better adapted to the hot and dry climate of the interior of São Paulo. On one property, there are 50 hectares of blueberries planted both in soil and in bags filled with rice straw and peat.
What workers are looking for are blueberries with an intense blue color because the bluer the fruit, the better to be picked and consumed immediately. However, each fruit has a unique flavor, like a box of surprises, according to one of the harvesters.
