The extent of expertise lies between customer dedication and scientific know-how

Italian nursery offers technical assistance after transplanting in greenhouse

Plant propagation for the professional sector has become increasingly demanding. In the current economic context, growers are hit hard by the increase in raw material prices, the shortage of manpower, but also pest and virus pressure, such as ToBRFV in the cultivation of tomatoes, the highest-valued greenhouse vegetable.

The Italian nursery Centro Seia grows plants (in Italy and abroad) for multiple areas that often differ profoundly in terms of soil and climatic conditions, cultivation systems, and phytosanitary risks. These diverse conditions require products that meet the different requirements of the supply chain, with growers, in particular, facing increasingly complex problems. Centro Seia has committed to quality thanks to qualified technicians with years of experience - some even with more than 20 years of experience - who are in constant contact with customers and markets.

Salvatore Longombardo

"The main activity is connection and exchange," says Salvatore Longombardo, a cultivation technician with know-how in seedling propagation. "On one side, there are the growers' requirements. On the other, the production in the nursery, where the perfect combination between these two elements should lead to the best offer on fruit and vegetable shelves."

"Quality in the nursery starts from the placing of the order, with the right advice to the farmer in choosing the type of seedling that best responds to the real production potentials. It is in the process of evaluating these elements that the added value of the SEIA Center emerges. This is followed by the inspection of some parameters of the seedlings, such as size, proportions, the appearance of the different plant parts and of the root system, and, of course, plant health. You can also see the quality of the plants by their performance after planting, which is why inspections are often carried out at the grower's own premises. And, of course, the delivery date is always respected as well."

For Centro Seia, plant quality is of fundamental importance because it is the only way to achieve cultivation results. Centro Seia has several branches in Europe and the United States and takes on the challenges of environmental sustainability and food safety. This is also why the company continues to make investments in high-tech solutions to grow quality plants in the most natural way possible. In doing so, it implements green strategies to protect against diseases. Centro Seia has always done more than just growing plants. With scientific knowledge and complete dedication, it puts itself at the service of the horticultural industry.
