Prior to the pandemic, Vietnam was seen as highly interesting for international greenhouse suppliers, and the HortEx tradeshow provided them with a platform to connect in person.
Despite the challenges put out ever since, the Vietnamese economy remained surprisingly resilient in 2022, and for 2023 the Vietnamese GDP is expected to grow by about 7%. With these figures, Vietnam is by far the fastest-growing economy in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region. This week, the HortEx will take place in Ho Chi Minh again and show the current status of the horticultural industry.
"The Vietnamese Horticulture sector is growing rapidly, with production systems slowly moving away from traditional open-field production to protected cultivation. Food safety and quality are becoming more and more important due to increasing local consumer demand for safe food and high standards and the increase of exports to various export markets, including the EU", says Kuno Jacobs with Nova Exhibitions, one of the organizers of the show.
He's currently getting ready for the upcoming edition of the trade show, which will be held from 1 - 3 March at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City. "Since yesterday, we are working hard to get everything ready in time," he says. "I am looking forward to a strong comeback after a 2-year hiatus due to Covid. "
Nearly 200 exhibitors from 25 countries will be participating in this 5th edition. The Netherlands, as a partner country, will showcase an impressive number of 33 Dutch companies. In addition, a collective pavilion made of sustainable materials will be one of the exhibition's highlights. An extensive knowledge program, including a seminar, an export forum, and a flower showcase, will be organized as well.
