Chinese tomato grower looks to bring Yikeda brand abroad

In December 2022, Kaisheng Haofeng Agriculture Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Kaisheng Haofeng) officially launched the premium vegetable and fruit brand 'Yikeda ™,' aiming to bring consumers high-standard, high-quality and safe vegetables.

Kaisheng Haofeng was established in 2006. It is a member enterprise of the central enterprise China National Building Materials Kaisheng Technology Group. It is the largest smart glass greenhouse operator in China. Its various vegetables have achieved a 365-day annual supply. The product sales cover the whole of China and sell well in more than 20 countries and regions. It is also a partner of several Fortune 500 companies in China.

"We have two private brands: 'Yikeda' is aimed at the high-end market, while the other brand, 'Greer,' is mainly focused on the low-end market. All bases of Kaisheng Haofeng have passed the GLOBAL GAP certification and are authorized as vegetable supply bases for Hong Kong and Macau. All the high-quality fruits and vegetables under the new brand Yikeda come from our own smart glass greenhouse." said Leo Jiang from Kaisheng Haofeng.

Through active market development, so far, the sales of "Greer" products have basically covered all well-known offline supermarkets and e-commerce platforms, such as Fresh Hema, Dingdong, and Meituan, ranking first in tomato sales. They are also exported to more than 20 countries.

Leo said, "Kaisheng Haofeng is the largest tomato supplier of Taocaicai in China. All tomatoes are grown in greenhouses, and the greenhouses are distributed all over the country, including Zibo, Fuping, Laixi, Puyang, Tongcheng, and other places. Among our main products, besides cherry tomatoes, there are Momotaro tomatoes and strawberry tomatoes, which are flavorful tomatoes. It can be eaten raw or cold."

When talking about business expansion in the export market, he said, "Relatively speaking, countries such as Russia and Vietnam that are closer to China have a greater demand for fresh tomatoes. Considering logistics factors, the export of fresh tomatoes to long-distance destinations faces challenges to a certain extent, but processed tomato products are very popular in these markets, and we hope to explore business opportunities with more overseas customers."
