Turkey: 550 tons tomatoes produced in the geothermal greenhouse

Five hundred fifty tons of tomatoes were harvested in 4 months in the Greenhouse Excellence Center with soilless geothermal heating implemented by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey. According to the statement made by the municipality, the harvest continues in the center, which has been operating on an area of 53,000 square meters. In the Greenhouse Excellence Center, which was designed as a pioneer in the changing and developing agricultural production models of the region, 550 tons of tomatoes were produced in the four months period from the first harvest.

Tomatoes produced in the center, where geothermal resources are integrated with agricultural production, then meet the consumers in the domestic market.

The year-round harvest is expected to be around 1.250 tons of tomato harvest. Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Yuce noted that the Greenhouse Center of Excellence, with soilless geothermal heating, is an exemplary model in Türkiye.

Yuce said, "We will continue to spread the production culture in our city and to create maximum efficiency by integrating agriculture with technology. I hope Sakarya will continue to be one of the most prominent cities in agricultural production."
