"Field Day Baby Leaf" is back for its 2022 edition, organized by Maraldi Sementi at Valcalcer (via Spineta 94, 84091 Battipaglia, Salerno).
"In addition to the traditional and more recent varieties, technicians and producers will learn more about the latest introductions fruit of ongoing genetic improvement to keep up with production and market needs. There will thus be a range with a complete package of resistances to the main diseases and distinctive phenotypic traits to guarantee high field and processing performances," reports manager Fabrizio Abbondanza.
On display, there will be 52 varieties of lettuce, 15 of wild arugula, 17 of baby leaf beets, 16 of baby brassicas, as well as spinach lines (19) with high resistance to downy mildew. In addition, upon request, it will be possible to visit a valerian test field with 12 varieties. Visits will be possible between December 12th and 17th.
"Many foreign delegations will also attend, including Great Britain, France, Israel, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, and even Australia. At Valcacer, eight greenhouses have been set up: two for arugula with 16 varieties, three for lettuce with 52 varieties, one for beets with 17 varieties, one for spinach with 21 hybrids, one for oriental brassicas (at az. agr. Maisto Pierpaolo) and 2/3 for valerian with 12 varieties."
