Along the Oranjepolderweg, Warmte Netwerk Westland realizing over three thousand meters of heat pipes in the coming period.
The work is being carried out by the contractor combination of
A. Hak and Smit & Visser Hanab and will last until the second quarter of 2023. In the area, almost ten greenhouse entrepreneurs will be connected to Warmtenetwerk Westland.
Start connecting heat pipes
At the end of October, welding and connection of the already drilled heat pipes started on Oranjepolderweg. At the same time, the consortium of contractors also started preparatory work on the 'house connections,' the pipelines running from the main pipeline to the future heat exchanger to the relevant greenhouse. To enable both the connection of heat pipelines and the realization of the house connections, it is sometimes necessary to open up the road and inconvenience traffic. Unfortunately, due to the short distances and limited-diameter piping, no other method is feasible.
Horizontal drilling
Currently, three of the six horizontal directional borings have been successfully completed, and the remaining borings will follow this calendar year. Recently, the first part of drilling number 4 near the Green 2 Grow and CombiVliet nurseries was carried out. This will be followed by a second section at the same location. During these so-called 'withdrawal moments,' the Oranjepolderweg is completely closed to all traffic.
Due to the aforementioned work at Oranjepolderweg, through traffic is expected to be limited until early March 2023, but all adjacent businesses and homes will be accessible. A diversion via Pettendijk or Korte Kruisweg has been chosen - for reasons of accessibility.
