Relief for some Indian consumers with lower veg prices

Vegetables prices that became very expensive during the Indian festive season has now started to come cheaper in the local Udupo market. Tomato has seen the biggest decrease at Rs 20 kg ($0.24) less.

Carrots have decreased to Rs 70 ($0.86) from a high of Rs100 ($1.2) a week ago. However, onions, a staple ingredient in Indian food has increased from Rs 40 ($0.49 to Rs 50 kg ($0.60). This is due to heavy rains and limited quantities of onions available on the market.
