In July 2022, Annelies Bayens and Bas Nieuwesteeg joined the Biorationals team at DCM. The DCM Biorationals team deals with the international development and marketing of DCM's biostimulants and biocontrol agents. They do this in close cooperation with the R&D department and the sales departments in the various countries where DCM is active. Of course, they are also in close contact with the growers, so that a lot of attention is paid to their needs.
Annelies Bayens comes from the Noorderkempen region in Belgium and quickly became interested in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. She chose to study Industrial Engineering in Biosciences. During her studies, she already gained very useful experience while scouting various Flemish tomato growers.
Growing up in Boskoop, the Netherlands, Bas Nieuwesteeg was also introduced to the horticultural sector at an early age. After studying Biology and Plant Sciences, he continued his career as a microbiological researcher in Koppert's R&D department.
Tomato vaccine
In addition to their active role in the Biorationals team, both Annelies and Bas will become new points of contact for the tomato vaccine PMV®-01 against PepMV. Annelies will mainly be active in Hoogstraten and Waasland regions (Belgium), Dutch Limburg, and the UK. Bas will take care of most of the Dutch growers. With all the challenges ahead in the horticultural sector, Annelies and Bas hope for even more cooperation. This is done by working very closely with growers but also by developing innovative products that benefit growers.
