Klasmann-Deilmann optimizes packing hall

Klasmann-Deilmann Benelux recently commissioned the new packing hall at their site at Nieuwe Waterwegstraat 34 in Schiedam. The hall is part of a total upgrading of the factory site, including the storage of raw materials, initiated in 2021 to increase efficiency and sustainability in the production of substrates.

Packing hall
The new packing hall has been equipped with two modern big bale presses and an innovative big bag packaging installation, allowing significantly more efficient operations. Initial calculations have already shown a 30% reduction in personnel costs. In addition, less film is used due to the adaptation of the presses and roller conveyors, and the use of larger intermediate bunkers has significantly increased system reliability.

Schiedam master plan
The new packing hall is part of a master plan by Klasmann-Deilmann Benelux to manage the organization's growth. Part of the new hall will be used to accommodate logistics processes by means of a loading terminal for trucks and a roller conveyor for packed materials to the new adjacent storage area. This creates a constant flow.

The development of the new hall and the associated layout has meant that the processes in the existing halls have also been adapted so that they also meet the requirements of the established growth scenario.
