BLE figures week 40

Germany wholesale market: Imported tomatoes pricier, not so for local products

Tomatoes prices are high on the German wholesale markets. Since early September, Belgian beef tomatoes have been far pricier than the five-year average. That is according to Germany's Agriculture and Food Federal Agency (BLE) market overview.

Dutch and Belgian TOV and cherry tomato prices are above the already not low 2021 prices. It must be noted that, in week 40, German cherry tomato prices do not match the five-year average, while they do for the Dutch, Belgian, and Italian products.

The same goes for Dutch and Belgian loose tomatoes. Their prices are also well above those of 2021. Remarkably, not so for the German product, while Polish round tomatoes did get better prices.
