Alpha JWC backs $2m round of Indonesian agritech firm

Beleaf, an Indonesia-based agritech firm, has raised US$2 million in a seed funding round led by Alpha JWC Ventures. The round was also joined by Sembrani Nusantara Fund, which is managed by BRI Ventures, and Arise, a collaborative fund from MDI Ventures and Finch Capital.

Founded in 2019 by Amrit Lakhiani, Beleaf started as a fruit and vegetable brand offering harvests from hydroponic farming systems.

It sells produce such as leafy greens and melons directly to restaurants as well as individuals through supermarkets and e-commerce platforms.

The firm has also developed an operating system that connects IoT devices, data collection, logistics, and scheduling functions of a farm, improving its yields and harvest quality. Beleaf currently provides its service to 14 farms in West Java with more than 80 hectares of area.
