Next to Business - a partner for suppliers and recipients of Sicilian fresh produce

The supply of fresh produce is rather complex and requires competence and experience. The distance between the places of production and the destination can make distribution operations difficult, due to organizational problems. FreshPlaza has talked about this with Romina Roccasalvo, administrator of Next To Business, a service company working in Italy and Europe - Germany, France, and the Netherlands in particular.

"The consequence of a 'bad management' of processes is that the goods are not suitable due to an error, maybe banal and easily avoidable if all the checks before departure had been carried out. Being present on the territory where you make a purchase is essential in our sector. Next to Business is a partner on the territory for companies interested in purchasing in Sicily to guarantee the accuracy and compliance of shipments."

Compliance check

"We are also much more, as we make plans for our foreign clients and follow harvesting and processing operations. We also help local suppliers and can talk to them directly in the language of their interlocutors. We act as guarantors for both parties."

Presence during the various production phases

"With our services, both parties - local suppliers and Italian and foreign clients - have an on-site 'employee' they can refer to throughout all phases. People in our line of work know how essential it is to immediately clarify any problem in person: checking the goods upon departure avoids unpleasant surprises on arrival that could compromise the relationship between client and supplier."

"An example could be making swift destination changes based on specific requests or being able to change labels quickly in case of an error, but of course there is a lot more to pay attention to."

Thanks to her staff, Romina Roccasalvo takes care of the interests of both the recipient firm and the supplier, supporting both parties as an on-site partner. The Sicilian manager boasts experience as a sales manager in one of the leading Sicilian companies with 1000 hectares. In addition, Roccasalvo also makes purchases in Sicily for two leading Dutch businesses in winter and acts as sales office for Dutch produce destined all over Europe in the summer, taking care of transport as well.
