On September 14, more than 3,700 tomato seedlings were successfully planted in the Smart Agriculture Demonstration Greenhouse Project of Baimashan Cement Plant, marking Conch Group's new contribution to the exploration of green and low-carbon development.
In order to explore the technical feasibility of carbon dioxide application in agriculture, the project covers a total area of about 4,465 square meters. It mainly relies on the demonstration project of carbon dioxide capture and purification from cement kiln flue gas of Baimashan Cement Plant and uses carbon dioxide as the source to effectively cultivate crops. The waste heat of the cement kiln is used to heat the greenhouse, and the whole process of intelligent mechanized soilless cultivation of vegetables and fruits is implemented to realize intelligent, scientific, and standardized planting.
"The smart agriculture project is not only an important exploration of the utilization of carbon dioxide resources but also helps to promote the development of agriculture in China in the direction of intelligence, greenness, and pollution-free. The transplanting is successful this time, the fruit can be harvested within two months, and the output in autumn is expected to reach 500 kilograms per day, and it is estimated to be 1,000 kilograms per day in summer, which is in line with the current trend and environment of "dual carbon" target, and will also produce good economic and social benefits." Xia Yanfei, Deputy Director of Carbon Capture Branch of Baimashan Cement Plant, said.
