More and more companies are recognizing the possibilities of solar panels. However, for growers, it is often a challenge to integrate them into the greenhouse roof. HS Horticulture Service therefore now offers solar greenhouse cover panels that can serve as a replacement for 4-millimeter glass.
"The frame fits directly into the rod. This makes it easy to install," Bernard van Hest explains. "You remove the glass and put the panel in its place, so there is no change to the deck construction. In theory, the customer could even take the panel out later and place the window back."
Solid construction
Apart from the installation benefits, the panel also offers other advantages. For example, the yield is higher because the entire panel is fitted with cells, in contrast to other solar panels. "There is no need for a structural calculation because the panels reinforce the structure. This makes the panel unique in its kind."
The weight of the greenhouse cover panel is 12 kilograms per square meter. By comparison, glass weighs 10 kilograms per square meter. The panel delivers 200 watts peak per square meter and is self-cleaning. "Should you want to, however, you can also clean the panel with a deck washing machine. In this way, the grower saves both on their energy bill and on cleaning part of the greenhouse roof. There is also no need for chalking at the spots where the panels are installed."
Insurance companies are also enthusiastic, Bernard indicates. "The solid material is proven not to break easily and since the panels are equipped with hardened glass with a plastic backsheet, any broken glass will not fall. This also makes the panels very attractive in terms of safety."
Two versions
HS Horticulture Service supplies both the panels and the necessary inverters and cabling. "Of course, we also take care of the installation on the greenhouse roof, if necessary, in consultation with the customer's own installer. For this, we have a team of experienced professionals. We are also happy to purchase dismantled glass or aluminum so that we can completely unburden the customer."
The greenhouse cover panel is available in two different versions:
- Transparent: 15% light transmission, product warranty of 12.5 to 20 years, yield guarantee of 25 years. After 25 years, at least 82% of the yield remains. Maximum snow load of 5400Pa and wind load of 2400Pa.
- White: 0% light transmission, product guarantee from 12.5 to 20 years, yield guarantee of 25 years. After 25 years, at least 82% of the yield remains. Maximum snow load of 5400Pa and wind load of 2400Pa.
The delivery time on the materials is currently about 15 weeks. Prices are calculated based on the customer's glass size. This is leading for each calculation.
