No more emissions in the greenhouse thanks to electric crop rotation

What is the trend in crop rotation? Rob van den Berg of Weterings Machinery does not have to think long about the answer to this question: "Electrification. By using electricity instead of fuel, there are no emissions in the greenhouse. The plants suffer from emissions, which does not help their development. For breeding companies, the importance of emission-free clearing is obvious: they clear their greenhouses in phases.

The people at Weterings Machinery received the question of how to eliminate emissions from breeding companies. The people at Weterings do not back away from such a challenge and quickly went to the drawing board. That has resulted in the first electric Biochopper, which has now been realized and is already being used in De Lier. The E-Biochopper is compact in order to be able to move around in small departments, rolls up the cloth, shreds the crop, and is controlled remotely.

The rolling up of the cloth and the feed rollers are fully protected and secured with sensors; you cannot even access them. Rob: "We put safety first. There aretoo many accidents during the crop change due to unsafe handling and working. We want to produce safe, efficient machines."

63 or 125 Amps
Rob: "The use of electrical crop changing machines requires a modification of the greenhouse's electrical installation. By default, 16 or 32 Amps are used. The compact Bio Chopper RZE needs 63 Amps. For a commercial production greenhouse with heavy crops, 125 amps are needed."

In addition to the electric Bio Chopper, Weterings also has several electric versions of the regular Bio Hopper, which pulls the crop out of the greenhouse without shredding it.

In addition to innovation, Weterings has been investing heavily in its export activities since 2010. "The machine lines, especially the crop changing machines, electric tractors, and scissor lifts, travel the world through their dealer network."
