Quality and safety are top priorities in southern European solar greenhouses

Food safety is one of the central focal points in the food industry in Germany. Before products reach consumers, they are regularly subjected to a large number of quality and safety checks. Not surprisingly, then, a full 83% of consumers fully or somewhat trust food safety.

This information comes from the annual survey conducted by the opinion research institute forsa on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). An increase in trust can be seen. In the previous year, 74% of respondents had confidence in their food, a development that is also progressing thanks to the efforts of the producers themselves. For example, farmers in southern Spanish greenhouses ensure at all times that quality standards are not neglected, in addition to important efforts to protect the environment, CuteSolar writes.

In particular, on the part of consumers, voices are becoming louder and louder about the quality and safety of the products they consume: in the aforementioned annual survey, it was found that, currently, about 67% of respondents attach particular importance to the quality of their food. With the help of controls, safety standards, and compliance with frameworks for targeted certifications, the southern Spanish solar greenhouses ensure the highest quality and safety of the fruits and vegetables produced there. Consumers get a direct insight into the origin, production process, and all other processes related to their fruits and vegetables through the CuteSolar campaign.

"The quality and safety of our products are our priority at all times. That is why it is so important to have certification systems that guarantee and support that the fruits and vegetables grown in the solar greenhouses meet the highest quality standards and European regulations," says Francisco Góngora, president of Hortiespaña.

Most solar greenhouse manufacturers are certified by Agrocolor. "At Agrocolor, we certify that our customers' processes and products meet the highest European quality and safety standards. To this end, we work with the most demanding international certifications such as GLOBALG.A.P. IFA (Integrated Farm Assurance), the European Regulation on Organic Agriculture, Naturland, QS (Quality Scheme for food) or IFS (International Featured Standard)," says Gerardo Romero Martínez, Certification Director of AGROCOLOR.

For the owners of the solar greenhouses in southern Spain, the strict quality and safety controls begin before the fruits and vegetables are planted, and are maintained throughout the production process and also during the transportation, distribution, and marketing processes in Europe and around the world.
