No fewer than fifteen brand-new pipe rail trolleys are ready and waiting at PDI. Joris Bogaerts of Bogaerts Greenhouse Logistics, manufacturer of the carts, explains that this is an important innovation: "It is of great importance that all equipment can be 100% disinfected."
Maintenance lifts
Wait a minute, pipe rail carts for PDI? Will the installer of screen installations be growing tomatoes himself from now on? That is not the case. It concerns the scissor lift Qii-Lift H652, a well-known model by Bogaerts, which PDI will use as a maintenance lift, with a platform height of 6.5 meters.
"Greenhouses are getting higher and higher and safety is paramount for us," says Jeroen de Jonge from PDI. "We are currently installing second systems in various greenhouses or renovating the existing roof and screen systems. These greenhouses often have a column height of 6 meters. To be able to work properly and safely at this height, the right pipe rail trolleys are required." That is why the company ordered 15 of them.
Stainless steel
The most special thing about these carts is that they are made entirely of stainless steel. This is because the carts always go to a different project.
"Given the increasing disease pressure in the professional horticultural sector, it is extremely important to disinfect all equipment 100% before using it for the next job," says CEO Joris Bogaerts. "Disinfectants with a high acidity level (pH 2-4) are increasingly being used. A standard double powder coating already provides a good barrier against chemical attacks on the steel structure of the scissor lifts, and the stainless steel chassis, scissors, and working platform provide even better protection against possible corrosion."
Jeroen confirms that they have noticed that the old carts start to get damaged due to the constant thorough cleaning. "We have ordered 15 stainless steel carts. It's a big investment, but it's the only right way to keep working between crops."
Extra innovation under the chassis
Under the chassis, there is another Bogaerts innovation. The quick-release set allows the flange wheels to be adjusted in center-to-center distance quickly and easily. "This makes it possible to use the scissor lifts in greenhouses with different tube rails, ranging from 425 to 650 mm," Joris explains. "Particularly for a contractor such as Peter Dekker Installations, it is of great importance to be able to use the equipment for different clients."
Collaboration
The cooperation between Bogaerts Greenhouse Logistics and Peter Dekker Installations goes back more than 10 years. "Another great example of how close cooperation leads to continuous product improvement," both parties conclude.
