RF Agriculture:

Stock up to avoid delays

Over the past two years, the world has been changing thanks to the global pandemic. Everyone needed to make changes to their everyday lives to stay safe, including most of the businesses and industries across the globe. Commercial horticulture was not an exception: business practices and ways of operating have drastically changed from less in-person sales and more online or virtual sales, spacing distances for workers, PPE, and more. Another major impact of the pandemic is the overall supply chain disruption and delay through all of the shipping and postal services.

Due to delays, growers can encounter quite a few problems as they need materials and supplies throughout a growing season from start to finish. Delays in shipments can mean delayed harvests or could lead to diminishing quality of crops, overall leading to profit loss and more stress for all of those involved. A way to alleviate the strain of these shipping delays is planning in advance. By purchasing items early, delayed shipments will not impact the new season, and a grower can still start off without worrying about grow supplies.

During these uncertain times for shipping and deliveries, it is suggested to focus on irrigation and watering needs, growing supplies, plant nutrients, and pest and disease control.
