Next step in energy set-up for Greek greenhouse company Bellamia

An important step for the Greece greenhouse project Bellamia Farms; Their energy set-up, including a CHP installation, was approved by the Greece Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE). The 8.8 MW cogeneration installation will be the main energy source for the greenhouse.

The first phase of the Bellamia Farms greenhouse project is currently being prepared. The total project will be over 25 hectares, including semi-closed greenhouses and packing & processing facilities. In the greenhouse, three types of tomatoes will be grown: beef tomatoes, TOV's, and cherry tomatoes.

The company hopes to harvest over 12.000 tons of tomatoes annually, for which they have made agreements with large retail chains.

The total investment sum is over 30 million euros. Behind the project is a fund led by the former governor of the ATEbank, Dimitris Miliakos.

Besides finalizing the greenhouse project itself, the next step for the electricity is the connection to the HEDNO network, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator.
