Totam Seeds offers access to new tomato varieties

Growers and nursery owners have the chance to see and touch a fantastic array of new and innovative tomato varieties at a special open event to be held in the Netherlands.

Dutch breeding company Totam Seeds will welcome people on Friday 8 October to the De Kiem convention center, Beatrixzaal, in ’s-Gravenzande, from 15.00 till 19.00, where it will showcase a broad range of premium-quality tomatoes, all of them offering unique flavor, superior quality, and high yields.

The range features lots of different tomato types, including round cherry, cocktail, and santa/mini plum, as well as medium and large tomatoes on the vine.  Each one has been developed to meet the specific requirements of both growers and consumers.

Several of the newest varieties are the fruit of an expanded breeding program which, over the past seven years, has yielded 210 successful new crosses of a large and medium cluster, cocktail, cherry, and mini plum tomatoes.

In collaboration with external growers, Totam Seeds was able to narrow down those varieties to a top 50 based on quality, resistance, and yield.  Following 24 months of further trials, a final selection of key varieties is now available.

At the event, experts from the Totam Seeds team will be available to provide visitors with information and technical details about all of those new tomatoes.
