A new packaging configurator can be found on the Prins Packaging Technology website. “We notice that when customers request a packaging machine, they sometimes do not really know what they want,” explains Jan Strijbos of Prins Packaging Technology. “The packaging configurator gives customers direction and shows what types of packaging and possibilities there are. If you are going to buy a new car nowadays, you can also search by individual features online. The configurator gives both the customer an idea and us a direction to arrive at the correct machine configuration in order to be able to give the perfect advice. ”
Hygiene a hot topic
“Due to the corona virus, the trend of paper packaging and products without packaging suddenly faded into the background. Everything had to be packed and plastic was no longer a problem either. Everyone took a serious look at packaging again. Hygiene became a hot topic again and packaging obviously plays a major role in this. For the coming years I think that the shock is good and that people have seen the benefits of packaging. Still, I expect that people will gradually want to get rid of plastic, especially now that there are so many great alternatives to plastic packaging,” says Jan.
Despite the fact that many people want to get rid of plastic, according to Jan plastic is not always bad. “Plastic can significantly extend the life of a product. If certain products are not wrapped in plastic, chances are you will have to throw more away, which will increase food waste. Not every consumer is aware of this and I think it is important to also communicate the benefits of plastic to consumers. Especially now that there are many types of plastic that are biodegradable or recyclable. ”
“The corona virus has had a significant impact this year. Both on the market, on the companies, but also on our people themselves. Despite the virus, Prins Packaging Technology can look back on a good year. We have been able to continue working well despite all the measures. Unfortunately, we had to miss some fairs. As a result, you miss a certain contact with your customers and partners. You don't always have to sell something at a fair, but a fair is a great way to maintain contacts. We hope that in 2021 we can return to the old "normal" and that we can meet everyone in good health again, "Jan concludes.
