Greenhouse production is improving rapidly in Erzincan, located in Eastern Turkey. Curly lettuce growers who started hydroponic production in the city have tripled their yield.
Grower Sercan Karabulut, who lives in Erzincan, started greenhouse production greenhouse as a hobby, but slowly it became his main source of income. With the hydroponic system he has set up, the grower managed to increase his productivity significantly. The products are grown in 45 days and all the nutrients lettuce normally needs from the soil are provided with water.
Production in a soilless greenhouse is being implemented for the first time in Erzincan. With the positive results, many growers in the area have also taken up hydroponic production, whereas the grower himself is looking to expand his production area and product range in the near future.
