New GAN 1000W for cucumber grower Norsk Agurk in Norway

In 2018, the Norwegian population bought 26,000 tonnes of cucumbers - yet they are hungry for more. The cucumber is highly in demand in the Norwegian market and therefore Gavita is the sole supplier for all replacement of existing lighting systems at Norsk Agurk in Sola, Norway.

General manager Aslaug Joa is a second generation cucumber grower and together with his mother Sigrun Joa, responsible for operating the greenhouse complex.

They see significant production improvements after the replacements and investments in the new fixtures. The greenhouse is a large consumer of really high micromoles, 450 to 500 micromoles for year-round production of cucumber.  

"The GAN 1000W 400V HPS has a proven track record and was the selection of choice," the team says. "The first batch was delivered in 2017, since then new Gavita’s have been delivered every year. There is only one part left in the greenhouse that is scheduled to be replaced in 2021."
