Russia: 6 ha greenhouse complex launched in Serpukhov

The Turov greenhouse complex in Serpukhov urban district has started production activities. The first produce is expected by the end of the current year, reads an announcement by the regional government.

“Turov greenhouse complex are taking action to get the first crops of pickle cucumbers by the end of December. The second phase should be completed in the first quarter of 2021. The overall production capacity of the project should reach 4 thousand tons of vegetables per year,” reads the announcement.

Apart from cucumbers, it is planned to grow cherry tomatoes.

The first production phase covers an acreage of 6 ha. It includes a storage facility, technical facilities and the greenhouses themselves, equipped with automated systems. The plants have been provided with all the required conditions in terms of temperature, humidity and lighting. The vegetables will be grown in mineral cotton and fed with a nourishing substrate.

During a season, it is expected to collect 65-70 kilos of cucumbers per square meter, i.e. about 17 thousand tons per plot.
