The construction of a six-hectare greenhouse has been completed in Serpukhov, near Moscow, reported the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
“The first seeds of organic vegetables have been planted in Serpukhov. The construction of the greenhouse itself has been completed, the facility is undergoing the procedure of production setup,” shared the head of the Ministry, Mr. Andrey Razin.
The first production phase is being launched in the complex. The greenhouses are equipped with a drip irrigation system and climate control. They only make use of biological crop protection methods. The plants are pollinated by bumblebees, which improves crop growth by 20-50%, reads the report.
“The second phase of the greenhouse is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. The amount of investments in the project amount to 19 million euros. The production capacity is four thousand tons of vegetables per year,” added Mr. Razin.
Upon completion of construction, the complex would employ about 100 associates.
