Report and presentations NL-Japan webinar on Smart Horticulture

On 12 November 2020, the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo organized a Netherlands-Japan Horticulture Webinar about “Sustainable and profitable greenhouse business: Usage of AI, robotics, climate controls and renewable energy in Japanese greenhouse horticulture”. More than 250 participants from Japan and the Netherlands attended this event, showing high interest in this topic. Japanese and Dutch experts presented showcases of joint cooperation, and shared their thoughts about future developments in the field of Autonomous Greenhouses and robotics. What is needed to apply this modern technology in the Japanese greenhouse? Economy of scale, standardization, and sharing of data are issues to be discussed to bring Smart Horticulture in Japan forward.
