Packaging tomatoes on the vine has always been an expensive and slow process in fact, in most cases, operators work in front of scales and weigh each punnet singularly until the exact weight is reached. As a consequence, the weight of packets can be uneven and there can be a high level of giveaway.

"The need of various clients to improve the process, combined with the unsatisfactory level of automation available so far, has led Zetapack to develop a unique technology - the C1 LUX weighing machine, an solution that guarantees a more efficient packaging process for TOVs," report Nicola Antonacci and Francesca Assirelli from Zetapack.
How does C1 LUX from Zetapack work? "An operator partially fills the punnet, which is then weighed to determine the effective grams of the pre-filled packet."
"At the same time, it calculates the missing quantity to reach the minimum guaranteed weigh."
This specific product quantity is loaded on a hopper that then places the tomatoes on the side of the corresponding punnet.
"Finally, an operator at the end of the line places the tomatoes inside the punnet. Our machines can be connected to any packager or flowpack."
"The machine guarantees a minimum of 45 punnets/minute with 6/7 operators. We calculated that C1 LUX doubles operator productivity, improving the quality of work and guaranteeing homogeneous packet with a significant reduction of the giveaway."
