New compostable cucumber wrap to be highlighted at Fresh Summit

PMA's virtual Fresh Summit has kicked off over the past few weeks, many companies made the decision to exhibit at the event. For Nature Fresh Farms, there was no question about it: “Our goal is to continue to support the produce industry while remaining visible to our current and potential customers, so participating was really not a question,” says Sarah Krzysik of Nature Fresh Farms.

“The pandemic has restricted us from connecting in-person, but the industry has adapted through these virtual tradeshows and with this transition we are seeing new approaches that are still valuable in making connections,” she added.

Highlighting the new Compostable Cucumber Wrap
Having participated in previous virtual trade shows prior to Fresh Summit, Nature Fresh Farms feels well equipped to make a splash on this year’s virtual format. “Fresh Summit will have its own unique platform with a webpage format containing unique company pages where buyers and visitors can learn more about each company exhibiting. For us, it’s simply a matter of what new and exciting things do we have, and how would we like to share them on the platform,” Krzysik says.

The number one new development highlighted at Fresh Summit will be the new Compostable Cucumber Wrap. “This wrap is made from a starch-based PLA that is derived from plant-based resources including non-GMO corn starch. It is 100 percent compostable and breaks down naturally into CO2 and water. Consumers can compost it at home, with it only taking 90 days to break down,” Krzysik shared. To celebrate the release of the new cucumber wrap, the company has pledged to plant up to 25,000 trees, with every share of their social media posts being equivalent to one tree planted.

Continued opportunities for developing relationships
While the show has been moved to a virtual format, Nature Fresh Farms is still expecting to have some great opportunities for making connections. “Every tradeshow is an opportunity to reach retail buyers and make connections with individuals and organizations in the industry. Our hope is that the virtual event will continue to support us in developing relationships with the produce community. By showcasing new products, we also aim to draw attention and get the produce industry excited about our new sustainable initiatives,” Krzysik concluded.
