Juan González Pita of Salix Fruits:

“Connecting digitally with our colleagues is our bread and butter”

For Atlanta-based Salix Fruits, PMA Fresh Summit will be the first virtual trade show they participate in. Despite this, the company feels confident that their participation will be a success, especially since they have already invested a lot in their virtual footprint. “Salix is very technology driven,” says Juan González Pita, one of Salix Fruit’s founders and the company’s sales director. “We already have our own app, so connecting digitally with our colleagues is our bread and butter,” he says.

Investing in high-quality digital content
In order to prepare for the coming show, Salix has invested in developing digital content that will catch visitors’ eyes. “We have invested in producing high-quality videos specially for this occasion. Our welcome video is five minutes long and introduces our products, our partners, and, of course, our team!” Pita shares.

In addition to their digital content, Salix will focus on ensuring they have a strong team at the virtual event to connect with customers. “We are very fast when replying to our customers, so the virtual Fresh Summit will be more of the same, in that sense. We will also have people from our team on stand-by to answer any request live,” explains Pita.

Focus on citrus import program
Salix Fruits is a global importer and exporter of citrus fruits. While the company is based in Atlanta, Georgia, they also have offices in Philadelphia, Chicago, South Africa and Argentina and they work with growers all over the world. For this year’s Fresh Summit, the company is looking to highlight their import program into the US. “We are focusing on our import operation in Philadelphia where we are bringing in all types of citrus from overseas,” says Pita.

Besides highlighting their citrus import operation, the Salix Fruits looks forward to connecting with the industry virtually. “We hope that the virtual Fresh Summit will help the industry adapt to this new normal, and introduce them to the world of e-commerce, in which Salix has already immersed itself and which we expect to lead in the next few years,” Pita concludes.
