Richie Keirouz of Mastronardi Produce on new BC distribution center:

“We’re now strategically located to serve all of North America and beyond”

Mastronardi Produce recently announced the establishment of a new distribution center which will be located in Surrey, British Columbia, in Canada. “The building is completed and we’re now working on getting it all set up,” says Richie Keirouz, Mastronardi Produce’s Senior Director of Sales Administration. The new center will be open for operation in January 2021.

Expansion in West Coast market
Mastronardi Produce currently already has a large presence throughout the United States East Coast, as well as distribution centers in the Midwest and the South, in Michigan and Texas, respectively. This new distribution center will serve to expand their markets on the West Coasts of both Canada and the United States. “As a national produce company with greenhouses and distribution centers across Canada and the United States, we have a strong presence across the East Coast. With our new distribution center in British Columbia, we’ll be able to significantly grow our western business and serve communities across both the western regions of Canada and the US. So, there’s a huge amount of opportunity for growth on the West Coast for us and we’re excited to be able to offer this region the flavorful products that we grow,” Keirouz says.

The company currently also has a distribution center in Castroville, California, which will work together with the new BC center to bring their produce across the West Coast and further. Keirouz explains: “Surrey, BC, is really the ideal location for our new center, because not only will it help increase distribution into both Canada and the US, but it will also allow us to distribute to markets outside of North America as well.”

Fresher and faster produce
As a grower of greenhouse produce, ensuring that the products arrive in stores at optimal quality is one of the most important goals and the new center is a big part of making this happen. “We not only will be launching this new distribution center, but we’ll also be working with growers in the region to produce our innovative, flavorful products year-round. The products can get from the growers to the center within a day and be on store shelves no more than 24-48 hours later,” says Keirouz.

He continues: “We’ll now be able to deliver even fresher produce to the retailers. We are excited to be able to expand our ability to service the customers, on both the East and the West Coasts, with the freshest products possible.”

Looking forward to continued growth
The company currently already supplies most major retailers across the United States. Keirouz shares: “The new center will give us the ability to expand even further and offer more products to the West Coast. We already have many relationships with retailers in the West Coast and they are very excited to start carrying Sunset® products, if they don’t already do so. We’ll continue to meet the needs of our customers and consumers, and to provide them with our innovative and flavorful products, no matter where they’re located.

The new center signifies the continuing increase in demand for the company’s products. “We’re continually expanding our acreage to keep up with the insatiable demand for our products and to continue to serve communities from coast to coast. We’re excited for the opportunity for continued growth, that’s what Mastronardi Produce is all about: continued growth and flavorful products. We’re grateful for the growth we’ve had so far, and we are looking forward to the future to continue to grow,” Keirouz concludes.
