Taking into account the spring greenhouses, 991,6 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in the protected ground.
The top ten subjects producing vegetables in greenhouses include the Lipetsk Region (97 thousand tons), the Krasnodar Krai (91 thousand tons), the Moscow Region (74.6 thousand tons), the Stavropol Krai (56 thousand tons), the Volgograd Region (51 thousand tons), the Republic of Bashkortostan (48.3 thousand tons), the Kaluga Region (41.9 thousand tons), the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (35.7 thousand tons), the Novosibirsk Region (31.2 thousand) tons and the Republic of Tatarstan (29.03 thousand tons).
As of the reporting date, 2 million tons of vegetables were harvested in the open ground. The main share is accounted for tomatoes (23.4%), onions (23.3%), cabbage (13.7%), and carrots (8.3%). State support measures contribute to the development of the industry. As part of the incentive subsidy, the subjects of the Russian Federation can choose priority areas, including the open ground vegetable growing. That allows the regions to provide additional support to farmers engaged in vegetable production. Besides that, there are mechanisms for grant support for farmers and cooperatives, preferential lending, and other measures aimed at providing comprehensive state support to agricultural producers.
