Turkish municipality turns greenhouse waste into organic fertilizer

Kepez municipality in Antalya, Turkey, has a processing facility where all the collected plant waste from greenhouses is collected and processed to produce organic fertilizers.

5 tonnes of greenhouse waste are processed daily in the facility to create 1.5 tonnes of organic fertilizer. The organic fertilizer is distributed free of charge to local growers.

The municipality aims to spread more sustainable production practices amongst the growers in the region in addition to providing them some financial relief by supplying them with free fertilizers.
