Joris van Calcar from horticulture to frozen sector

Starting 12 October, Joris van Calcar will be fellow-owner of Tessuto International BV. Together with a partner in company clothing, Joris will take over all shares of the Dutch producer of freezer and cold storage clothing. The step means he will be saying goodbye to his role as salesman of horticulture wire on behalf of Lankhorst Yarns. Jos Lemmens will follow him up.

In the last five years, Joris has been active with Lankhorst particularly in the field of Elite Twine and Elite Bio Twine for the greenhouse horticulture. "It was great to see the demand for 100% bio-degradable and compostable horticulture twine grow and to have played a part in it." At the end of last year, the twine was awarded with the OK Compost certificate.

Specialist market
The possibility to become an independent entrepreneur arose earlier this year through friends and Joris responded probable. As of 1 October, he will take over the shares of Tessuto International BV.

In 2021, the company will exist for thirty years. The product assortment contains freezer jackets, trousers, overalls and bodywarmers, but also freezer boots, shoes, gloves and caps. Sales are directed at Europe, with the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany as the most important markets.

"Our clothing is certified to use in freezers with a temperature of -25 Celsius and colder. This makes us a complete supplier for this specialist market. Because of a close cooperation with a company clothing producer we are also capable to clothe other organisations, also outside of the cold storage and freezer market."

Because cooling and freezing is a daily affair in the agriculture and horticulture sector, Joris will be, albeit in a different role, somewhat involved in the market. "It would be great if I would meet old colleagues in my new role."

Jos is successor
At Lankhorst, Joris succeeds Jos Lemmens. He is already working with the Lankhorstgroup and already knows the colleagues in the group in Portugal. Jos can be reached at: joslemmens@lankhorsteuronete.com
