South Essex Fabricating set to build largest greenhouse in North America

"The sheer size of this pepper greenhouse makes it a remarkable project"

South Essex Fabricating is currently working on an innovative twenty-nine-hectare high-efficiency pepper greenhouse located in Leamington, Ontario.

"As the largest greenhouse construction project to date in North America, the design, planning, and delivery of this high-tech facility is a formidable challenge," says Jonathan Dick, Sales and Design Manager at South Essex Fabricating.

Despite significant local delays in permitting and the global setback of COVID-19, South Essex Fabricating quickly adapted working procedures to continue construction on this massive project, as well as eight other large-scale projects they currently have on the go. With the first crop expected to be planted in February 2021, the job is well underway.

“The greenhouse is up, we’ve nearly finished glazing, and the underground works will soon be complete,” says Dick. “Although we have had a challenging start, we fully expect the project to be completed as scheduled.”

This latest expansion by Pomas Farms will double the size of their existing operations and will include brand new technology and employee facilities, as well as a new state-of-the-art 2.3 ha packing facility.
