Philippines looking to promote integrated urban agriculture

The Philippines House Committee on Agriculture and Food chaired by Rep. Wilfredo Mark Enverga (1st District, Quezon) on Monday approved the consolidation of House Bill No. (HB) 855 authored by Rep. Michael Edgar Aglipay (Party-list, DIWA), HB 3412 by Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez (3rd District, Negros Occidental) and HB 5640 by Rep. Ruth Mariano-Hernandez (2nd District, Laguna), all seeking to institutionalize integrated urban agriculture and vertical farming in the country to ensure food security and address hunger and poverty.

Among the attendees of the hearing were Reps. Joseph Paduano (Party-list, Abang Lingkod), Argel Joseph Cabatbat (Party-list, Magsasaka), Faustino Michael Carlos Dy (5th District, Isabela), Christopher de Venecia (4th District, Pangasinan), Antonio "Tonypet" Albano (1st District, Isabela), and Samantha Louise Vargas-Alfonso (2nd District, Cagayan).
