Turkey: Hydroponic geothermal greenhouses to be built in Sakarya

Sakarya Mayor Ekrem Yuce announced to the press that they are developing a geothermal hydroponic greenhouse project in Akyazi district of the city and that the project will set an example for the rest of the country.

The project is carried out by the municipality in cooperation with district municipalities and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Mayor Yuce: “We want to set our goals high and set this project up in a way that can be used as an example and success story for the growers and municipalities in Turkey. We will soon start the construction. This project will create a lot of jobs in the area and we expect a significant economy generated by these greenhouses. The additional income will increase the welfare of the residents in Akyazi district.”

As Sakarya is in very close proximity to Istanbul, the biggest domestic consumption city in the country, most of the products from these greenhouses are expected to be sold to buyers in Istanbul.
