The imported produce become more accessible, the experts explain the situation

Ukrainian cucumber doubled in price

The analytics of Info-Shivar have calculated that the wholesale prices on the imported vegetables have decreased, while those of the Ukrainian ones have increased. Thus, the imported cucumbers are offered at 1.07-1.14 euro per kilo. The price has dropped a third during the week. With that, the cucumbers by Ukrainian producers are offered at 1.9-2.09 euro per kilo, having doubled since November.

Traders claim that such a growth is feasible. First of all, there is much less of the locally produced cucumbers in the Ukrainian market this year and the season is almost over. Second, the consumers are ready to pay more for the local produce due the taste qualities and longer shelf life.
