Australian industry professionals gather for annual grower day

Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) and Hydroponic Farmers Federation (HFF) joined forces to put on a grower day at Chisholm Tafe in Victoria, Australia - supported by Bayer De Ruiter.

Following the PCA’s 30 year celebration in Casey, Victoria – over 85 growers and allied trade gathered at the Chisholm Tafe demonstration glasshouse facility for what is becoming an annual event jointly hosted by PCA and HFF. This year the event, including coffee and lunch, was kindly sponsored by Bayer De Ruiter.

The day began with a line up of speakers including Aart Slobbe from Signify, Matthew Dent from Royal Brinkman, Helen Maccan from De Ruiter Vegetable Seeds, Hannah White from PMA A-NZ and Michael Simonetta from Perfection Fresh. Directly after lunch at the funky food trucks, the guests were divided into 2 groups – the first going into the demonstration glasshouse to look at the crop under Signify’s LEDs and also view and taste the De Ruiter tomato varieties. The second group were given a demonstration and presentation by Biological Services on their biologicals.

The day ended with a quick summary of the day and all the delegates and sponsors were thanked for their attendance, participation and on-going support by Chairwoman of PCA – Nicky Mann. Finally, Chairman of HFF – Mr John Elford – finished the day by reminding everyone about the upcoming HFF Conference in July 2020 and encouraged everyone to register early to ensure their spot and what was shaping up to be HFF’s biggest and best conference yet.
