In Barnaul the growers have begun collecting autumn greenhouse cucumber crops.
Despite the drizzle outside the greenhouse, inside there is an oasis of a non-Siberian summer, the temperature reaches 30 degrees and humidity is similar to the tropical one – 80%. Artificial sun is shining constantly. In such conditions vegetables ripe 20 hours in a row, almost non-stop.
Ms. Inna Repina, the head of production unit: “We used to have two cycles, after cucumbers we changed to tomatoes. Now we will have two short cycles, 3-4 months long and we keep producing cucumbers.”
The operator has invested a significant amount in the production in order to implement in Barnaul the technologies from own greenhouses in Smolensk, Yaroslavl and Novosibirsk greenhouse complexes. The first crops are now being collected. By the end or October, they are planning to produce 60 tons of fresh produce. However, the growers calculate kilos per every square meter.
Mr. Andrey Sedunov, the general director of the greenhouse complex Tolmachevskiy: “We have ambitious plans. Industrialniy used to produce about 80 kilos, we are planning 120 kilos for the current year per month. Further we are aiming to reach the level of 140 kilos of cucumbers.”
The greenhouses are the property of the region but the enterprise Industrialniy was closed past summer. Currently, 109 employees have joined the new enterprise.
Ms. Natalia Ushakova, grower: “We were all concerned about the future of the enterprise. After a while they invited us to join the new team. The salary is paid timely according to the agreement.”
Ms. Nadezhda Mazurova, grower: “Once you get the technology, work out the tempo, you can earn extra. At the moment we are all learning.”
The enterprise are montaging lighting for two more greenhouses. The seeds for tomatoes to be grown there have already been planted.
Near the entrance, the foundation for the packaging facility is being constructed. The gas boiler house has already been completed.
The operator is planning to invest at least another 3.6 million euro in the greenhouses of Barnaul in the coming year.
