Crimean agricultural producers have provided some figures on the fruit and vegetable production on the peninsula, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea.
This year, agricultural producers in the Crimea have harvested 35 thousand tons of vegetables, both in the open ground and greenhouses, and 56 thousand tons of fruit and berry products.
"The greenhouse vegetable harvest, consisting mainly of cucumbers and tomatoes, has amounted to seven thousand tons, while the open ground production, with cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, carrots, onions, peas, zucchini, sweet pepper and garlic as some representative crops, stood at 28.4 thousand tons. Meanwhile, the potato production has reached almost 17 thousand tons," said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea, Andrei Ryumshin.
As for the fruit and berry production, the most representative crops are apples and pears, with 48.6 thousand tons; cherries, plums, apricots and peaches, with about 7.6 thousand tons, and open ground and greenhouse strawberries, with 620 tons.
