From tube rail carts, spray carts and reels to leaf-picking machines and electric tractors. At Berg Hortimotive, the activities are divers. We are giving you a look into the factory in De Lier and André Valstar, Product & Marketing Manager, explains the processes.
In the near future, Berg Hortimotive will realize a growth in production capacity of 20%. "This will be achieved by further streamlining production, a process which has started some years ago."
Since January 1, 2019, Berg Hortimotive works with a closed warehouse. The also started a system in which the component are supplied directly to the mechanics so they would not have to leave their work space for getting parts. André: "At this moment, the production lines for the most common machines already work in this manner. It works as we expected, and that is why it is important to further implement streamlining. We work with large numbers and a certain form of continuous optimising."

“Trend, Flex en Custom”
Berg Hortimotive divides the products into 3 categories.
- 80% of the products are the so-called Trend version. These are the most usual carts and Berg Hortimotive can produce these in considerable numbers on short notice.
- 15% are Flex versions. This version is similar to the Trend version, but comes with (some) minor adjustments. This one can also be produced relatively quickly.
- The remaining 5% is the Custom version. These products are being designed on request and often in close cooperation with the users and service partners. This is customized work and is certainly possible.
Partially because they work with a closed warehouse and 'product-slots', Berg Hortimotive always has stock. André: "Customers can contact us for an order, and sometimes they can pick up the same day."
Product management and certification
Berg Hortimotive focuses strongly on managing its products and portfolio. A direct result of that effort is that there will be news on short notice about the Benomic S-Line scissor cart, the new reel, and the leaf-picking cart.
The scissor carts have been the calling card of Berg Hortimotive for more than 50 years. The Benomic S-line series are the follow up. Because of new safety legislation and regulation , Berg Hortimotive re-engineered the scissor carts. The result is the TüV approved Benomic S-line.
These new scissor carts are equipped with various smart systems to help both the personnel in the greenhouse and the cultivation management in optimizing the processes. The new carts can drive 50% longer, cause less damage to the crop and even come with a USB-connection for charging various equipment.
André: "We have faith in this new product and are sure that the users will enjoy using these machines. A lot of attention was paid to ergonomics and user comfort."
