Norwegian blueberry packaging wins award

BAMA Packaging from Norway has come up with a new, smart solution for blueberry packaging. This packaging received this year's Scandinavian ScanStar award. This new paper packaging was developed to reduce the use of plastic packaging materials.

“The development of environmentally-friendly packaging solutions is moving rapidly. We are proud to have won the ScanStar award. We will continue in our commitment to sustainability and the climate," says Bama Packaging's Øyvind Briså.

The packaging reduces the need for plastic by 170 tons per year. CO2 emissions are also slashed by 48%. The packaging's shape was designed in a specific way too. It ensures they make optimal use of packing space in the trucks. As a result, when it comes to sustainability, this packaging compares very favorably to conventional plastic cups.

Fruit and vegetable packaging remains necessary to prevent dehydration and food wastage. This new packaging, however, reduces the strain on the environment to a minimum. It is made from fibers taken from Scandinavian forests and was developed in Norway.

BAMA Packaging was founded in 2019 by the Norwegian BAMA Gruppen and Moltzau Packaging. Its sole mandate is to find innovative, sustainable packaging solutions.
